There are many places to hike nearby our romantic New Hampshire getaway. Our favorite is Pisgah Park, which is a 14,000-acre park in Chesterfield and neighboring towns. We also recommend the Madame Sherri Forest as well as Chesterfield Gorge, both in Chesterfield.
If you'd like to climb the most climbed mountain on the East Coast, Mount Monadnock in Jaffrey, NH is a short 45-minute drive from our Chesterfield NH Inn. On a clear day you can see Boston from the summit.
Rent a canoe or kayak and take a paddle on the Connecticut or West Rivers in Brattleboro, Vermont. You can rent canoes and kayaks at Vermont Canoe Touring Center.
This is Robert Todd Lincoln's family home in Manchester, Vermont. It's worth the 1-hour drive through the mountains to Manchester, and you can also tour the goat farm and cheese making facility at Hildene.
Northampton, MA is 45 minutes from our romantic New Hampshire Bed and Breakfast and is a great town to explore, with lots of interesting shops and good restaurants. The Smith College Art Museum is a true gem and worth the trip.
The home of Keene State College has a nice campus to explore as you wander down Keene's broad Main Street. Visit The Kitchen Store, Ye Goodie Shoppe, Miranda's Verandah, Ted's Shoe and Sport, and the Ingenuity Country Store.
Walpole, New Hampshire
Picturesque village, the way all towns in New England used to look. The home of Burdick's Chocolate Cafe and Restaurant.
Between Grafton Ponds outdoor activities, the Grafton Cheese Company and the Grafton Inn for lunch and dinner, there is plenty to do in this little town.
The arts abound in the area and there is always something going on, year round.
With the afternoon winding down, we'd come back to the inn, have a nap, and wake up with enough time to enjoy a glass of wine on the terrace while the sun is setting. Dinner in the candlelit dining room follows as a fitting end to the day. After dinner, we might go over to hear some live jazz at the Jazz Center, or folk music at the Hooker Dunham Theater in Brattleboro.
