Seasons of New Hampshire: Reasons to Visit in Each One

We love living in New Hampshire, even throughout all of the four seasons. For those considering a visit to our charming state, there is truly something special to enjoy about each one. Oh sure, there are some who say the winters are too long, or that the summers are too short, but for those who love the outdoors, the Chesterfield, New Hampshire area is just about as perfect a place as any you will find in New England.

On average, here in West Chesterfield, NH, we see about 195 sunny days per year. That leaves a lot of days of outdoor fun, whether you come in the Winter, Spring, Summer, or Autumn! And on those days when it might be inclement weather, you can still spend your time being entertained by fascinating local museums and theatres, or sauntering through the quaint little shops of nearby Keene, NH.

The Chesterfield Inn may be rural, but that is what our guests find so enticing. You can spend time reconnecting with nature and enjoy some of the freshest air and beauty of the outdoors. So, put your technology and gadgets away… and come enjoy the four seasons at the Chesterfield Inn of West Chesterfield! Read on for just a few highlights that you can find while you are here…

Spring hike in New Hampshire

Spring

Put some air in your tires on the mountain bike and dust off that kayak you’ve been storing all winter long. These can also be rented. Although there may be a few muddy days, this is the time of year when canoeists, kayakers and mountain bikers long to get out on the rivers and trails for the first time after winter. Or if a round of golf is more your speed, there are several beautiful nearby country clubs that are a short drive from the Chesterfield Inn. Other popular spring activities include tennis, horseback riding, and hiking.

Pet Friendly Summer Getaway in NH

Summer

One of our favorite seasons is summer, and there’s nothing like a summer day in New Hampshire. A few nearby lakes allow swimming and boating or jet skiing, but you can ask us which places are the best to visit while you’re here. If you love mountain climbing, you can catch a panoramic view of the entire state (okay, we’re just exaggerating a tiny bit, but you can see really, really far!) from atop Mount Monadnock, not to mention the numerous hiking opportunities. Wantastiquet Mountain Natural Area is a state park that will make you feel connected and free. After all, we are in the “Live Free or Die” state, so you must experience this feeling for yourself!

Fall Getaway at Our New Hampshire Inn

Autumn

People flock to Chesterfield for the fall foliage, but autumn is one of the best times of the year here in New Hampshire for other reasons, too. You can pick your own apples at Green Mountain Orchards, or check out some local area wineries for some genuine, fresh wine. Hiking is still a great activity in the fall, and so are many of the spring and summer activities we mentioned. If you love antiques, you can go “antique hunting” at many small, family-owned shops throughout the area. Photo buffs also love coming here to catch some of the most scenic images of New Hampshire’s unspoiled beauty.

Winter Vacation in NH

Winter

While some of our metropolitan neighbors, like Portsmouth, Boston, or Albany may dread the longest season of winter, the outdoor winter enthusiasts come from near and far for the awesome winter snowmobiling, skiing, snow sledding, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing adventures that await in Cheshire County. The holidays are remarkably fun! Go dashing through the fields on a sleigh or horse-drawn hay ride! You can also take a drive just to look at the bright holiday lights put up by many of the locals and small business owners who live here. Embrace winter by tubing, ice skating, or catching a hockey game with friends.

If you can’t choose which season to visit, why not come for all of them? Indeed, our Southern New Hampshire inn is not as close to the city as others, but we like it that way; and we think you will, too! Book your stay with us today!
